Ecclesial Movements and New Communities

The beauty of being a Christian
and the joy of communicating this
“There is nothing more beautiful than to be surprised by the Gospel, by the encounter with Christ. There is nothing more
beautiful than to know Him and to speak to others of our friendship with Him” (Benedict XVI, Homily April 24, 2005)
Dear Parishioners of St. Lawrence:
The Second World Congress on Ecclesial Movements and New Communities took place in Rome May 31 - June 3, 2006. Pope Benedict XVI stated on May 22, 2006 that, "the Ecclesial Movements and New Communities are a luminous sign of the beauty of Christ and of the Church, his Bride. You belong to the living structure of the Church. She thanks you for your missionary commitment, for the formative action on behalf of Christian families that you are increasingly developing and for the promotion of vocations to the ministerial priesthood and consecrated life which you nurture among your members." It is clear that the Church desires the faithful to participate in these Communities and Movements and assist with the sharing of God's word and renewing the world. I would encourage you to prayerfully join this work of the Holy Spirit and seek to establish within our parish local chapters of such Movements and Communities. Let us join in prayer that the Holy Spirit will find many receptive apostles among the parishioners of St. Lawrence.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Fr. Tom Morgan
