Funeral Planning
On behalf of Fr. Tom our pastor, the priests, the staff and the parishioners of St. Lawrence, we wish to express to the family and friends of the deceased, our sincere condolences. We will do everything possible to comfort you during your time of loss and to assist you in preparing a solemn liturgy that is specific and meaningful to you.
The Funeral Mass for a loved one is a time of sorrow and a time of faith. The liturgy for this occasion lends itself to a variety of choices which you or someone close to you may make. |
The following areas are some of the options in planning a funeral Mass available to you and your family.
1. SCRIPTURE READINGS: The family may select a reading from the Old Testament
and one from the New Testament. (See Readings for Funeral list)
RESPONSORIAL PSALM: The musician will choose and coordinate the psalm.
2. PRESENTATION OF OFFERATORY GIFTS: One or more family members may be
gift bearers.
3. MUSICIAN/CANTOR: When possible the Parish will provide a musician/cantor for the
Funeral Mass. The music selections should be chosen from the listing below. However,
they may not be able to respond to all requests, they would like to help with songs that
have special meaning for the deceased.
4. OTHER REQUESTS: Although we may not be able to respond to all requests, we will try
to honor special requests.
MUSIC
The music for funerals is ordinarily provided by the St. Lawrence Music Director or other musician. However, if you have family members or friends who are musicians and wish to participate in the Funeral Liturgy, please make arrangements with the Parish office at (813) 875-4128.
